“Vinyasa” in sanskrit literally means 'placing in a special way' denoting a special way of connecting and putting poses (asanas) together. At the heart of Vinyasa yoga, lies breath-synchronised movement and connection. As such, Vinyasa yoga is where movement – and a series of poses – is synchronised and connected to the breath, inhaling and exhaling.
Often this style of yoga is known as flow yoga, with smooth transitions of poses, running together like a timeless dance. Like a wave rising and falling.
Vinyasa yoga is a great place to start for beginners who like to flow when they practice and like a bit of a challenge. It is also ideal for practitioners with an active lifestyle who want to learn how to infuse mindfulness and peacefulness into their lives.
At Yoga Shala we offer open level Vinyasa flow classes every Tuesday and Thursday AT 18:30-19:30. We work with different levels and anatomies and offer modifications to ensure we all move forward when the time is right as light Warriors.
